Huy is a Lea+Elliott Board Member and Principal and leads the firm’s work as Project Manager on the Honolulu Rail Transit Project. He has over 35 years of experience in the transit industry with emphasis in systems engineering and implementation. Huy’s experience spans across all modes of transit and different stages of transportation project development, including planning, design, procurement, equipment fabrication, installation, contract management, construction, testing/commissioning, and operation/maintenance oversight.

- What’s a typical day like for you? – A typical day for me is quite dynamic and involves a lot of coordination and communication. I start by checking in with my team members to ensure everyone is on track with their tasks. Throughout the day, I interface with various internal and external teams to facilitate smooth collaboration. My meeting calendar is always full. Monitoring project progress and ensuring everything is moving forward as planned is a key part of my role. I also handle any issues or complaints from contractors, making sure to respond promptly and effectively to keep things running smoothly. I do a lot of technical reviews and writing. Overall, it’s a busy and engaging day that requires a lot of multitasking and problem-solving.
- How do you want people to remember you? I keep my promises, trust and respect others, strive to help when I can, love my family, and aim to do good for society.
- What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working? Reading and playing golf.
